I am passionate about culturally relevant pedagogy and culturally responsive teaching methods in health education. Our teaching practice needs to reflect our students. Our student population is diverse and the "one size fits all education" is not meeting the needs of our students. As educators, it is our responsibility to expect academic achievement and success for all of our students. My future vision is to help future teachers learn these needed skills to teach successfully and to help them as educators, build relationships with students, families and the community. I believe that their should be transparency and inclusion in education. I am passionate about social justice and the need to teach our students the true history of our country, not to divide but to acknowledge and empower. Students come from different cultures and we need to meet them where they are at so that learning is attainable for all.
