I'm a research scientist who has always been fascinated by language and communication, especially in situations where getting a message across can be challenging. For over a decade I studied communication as an academic, specialising in problem-solving to overcome communication barriers. Today I lead commercial research, partnering with designers across industries to create more inclusive products and craft messaging that connects with a broader range of users.Since 2021 I have been based in London, where I led a research team investigating how disabled consumers understand, manage, and work around access barriers in digital and physical product designs. I'm proud to have helped organisations across sectors to understand and build on their disabled end-users' innovated solutions. The through-line in my work is problem-solving, and I've had the chance to research how people's solutions differ, and what strategies they share, across cultures. I hold a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin, and I was an ERC Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow studying embodied language at Lund University in Sweden. I've worked in communication-focussed research teams at Haifa University in Israel and at CIESAS (The Centre for Social Anthropology in Higher Studies) in Mexico City. ✦ Areas of Expertise ✦Research Design & Delivery • Quantitative/Qualitative Methodology • Team Management • Stakeholder Relationship Management • Data Analysis • Reporting & Presenting • Statistics • Behavioural Science • Ethnography • Accessibility (a11y) • Inclusive Design • Cross-cultural Communication • Sign Languages • Gesture
