I provide daily, evidence-based literacy interventions to first-grade students in order to improve their literacy and reading skills. I assess and document students' continual progress and regularly review student data to gauge the effectiveness of the literacy interventions and implement necessary changes. I work collaboratively with my co-tutor to plan opening and relationship building activities.

I worked collaboratively with the South Cumberland Community Fund while learning about the grant-making process and history of philanthropy. I developed methods to assess and evaluate proposals from local organizations. We lead a grant cycle and awarded almost $30,000 to local organizations.

New Haven, Ct

I explored programmatic areas related to Alliance for Period Supplies and the Allied Programs' provision of period supplies through community-based organizations to individuals in need. I conducted a research study about the accessibility of period products in public schools in Tennessee. I presented the findings at the Yale Child Study Center Summer Poster Sessions.

Paris Area, France

Studied abroad in Paris, France where I completed all coursework in French and lived with a local host family, communicating in French. I also had the opportunity to volunteer with two English classes in a local high school.

Savannah, Georgia Area

Acted as an assistant teacher for a Kindergarten class for a six-week summer enrichment program for children from low-income families. I helped lead activities and projects and assisted with organizing lesson plans.

Sewanee, Tn

Provided educational and social programs for a 60-student residence hall and ensured the safety and security of the building on duty nights. Assisted 48 freshman men and women with their first-year transition at Sewanee.
