I am a Consultant and Educator with 40 years experience specialising in progressive early childhood education. My passion for the early years and advocacy for early childhood has been the driving force behind my work and I have been privileged to become a leader in the early childhood sector having been recognised at local, State and National levels. My consulting work includes providing professional development support, leadership and pedagogical guidance to staff teams, educational networks and organisations in varying forms, including presentations and workshops, across both the independent and government sectors.I am currently Chairperson and member of the National Committee of the Reggio Emilia Australia Information Exchange and Chaired the Adelaide Network from 2010-2017. I am also the lead educational consultant in the area of reconciliation for the Association of Independent Schools of South Australia. As Director of St Peter’s Girls Early Learning Centre and a member of the School’s Senior Leadership Team, I worked implementing change and fostering growth through collaborative leadership – building capacity, empowering staff, prioritising community and advocating for children.During this time, the ELC grew from 50-120 students and 10-35 staff, resulting in an increase in school enrolments. I led the re-development of the centre, ensuring the synergy between architecture and pedagogy to reflect the driving concepts and key values of the centre informed its re-design. I reshaped the curriculum to embrace the National Framework - Belonging, Being, Becoming and reflect the Reggio Emilia Philosophy while being underpinned by the International Baccalaureate Primary Year Programme. As part of a State Government initiative, the ELC was selected as one of 4 prototype educational settings in South Australia demonstrating high level performance advancing pedagogical research and demonstrating leadership embedding the Reggio Emilia Educational Project. My team and I also developed a reconciliation action plan which was nominated as a finalist in the Narragunnawali Awards, a national awards program that recognises and celebrates Australian schools and early learning services that are implementing outstanding reconciliation initiatives.Having dedicated my life to the seminal area of education, I enjoy working with others advocating for children to ensure they have the highest quality environments, educators and opportunities.
