I executed a 150k Youth-Centered Design Program in partnership with the YMCA and secured an additional 150k in funding for the program's continuation.As a Design Coach, I trained a cohort of high school students how to thoughtfully and collaboratively execute the design process with a community partner. In addition to ensuring a collaborative and safe learning environment for all students, I created and facilitated workshops on human-centered design and delivered high quality mentorship to high school students in weekly workshops and 1:1 sessions. I further exceeded original expectations by completing a comprehensive audit of design process materials and tools. I also implemented a comprehensive research project to evaluate curricular shortcomings and create remedies to align our approach with best practices in equity-centered design. I orchestrated and synthesized user research with students and professors, mapped other equity-centered design organizations and frameworks, and clarified concrete next steps to improve DFA's curriculum during the 2021-2022 school year.

After identifying unchecked patterns of discrimination in city council, I pitched and co-authored a report on the ways that race, class, and gender structure access to power in New Orleans’ institutions of civic engagement (such as neighborhood associations). Our report, published in 2021, found that white residents in neighborhood associations systematically oppose mixed-income and affordable housing developments and thus aggressively drive racial segregation in New Orleans.

I gathered and analyzed data on housing discrimination and created accessible publications (including blogs, infographics, and Instagram posts) to share this information with New Orleans citizens.

I designed and planned a 6-hour workshop on human-centered design for 65+ undergraduate students. To inform workshop content, I conducted extensive landscape research on climate change in the Chicago area. I built relationships with 20 community stakeholders and integrated 10 organizations into the workshop planning process. I further pioneered and implemented a program evaluation to document and learn from student and community partner experiences.

I was selected as one of 4 undergraduate students for a yearlong fellowship in community-based design education and professional development.As a fellow, I developed and facilitated workshops on community-centered design for diverse audience of 10-100+ community members, and consistently adapted educational materials to meet student needs. I coached teams of 5 community members in using the design process to address organizational challenges for a community organization. Finally, I cultivated a long-term relationship with local nonprofit "Playbuild" and secured ongoing opportunities for collaboration during the following school year.

As a part of the summer 2018 intern team, I published blog posts on Girl Risings' educator model that reached 6,200 schools in over 125 countries worldwide. I interviewed teachers in the Brooklyn South School District to evaluate the success of Girl Rising's domestic curriculum and create a report for project funders (HP). I conducted email outreach with large-scale corporate and nonprofit partners for a storytelling challenge sponsored by HP, reaching 882 entries for the challenge from 110 countries. Finally, I translated content from English to French for publication on the Girl Rising website.

As an intern, I fundraised over $2,000 and built relationships with four departmental sponsors and four campus clubs to host undocumented speakers at Tulane University Law School. Additionally, I built a database of potential future partners for the Congress of Day Laborers, supported undocumented people during ICE visits as an assist, and organized food coordination and transportation to protests in downtown New Orleans.
