Through all my work, I have strived to create spaces that support community, that develop efficiencies, and that are mindful of budgetary constraints. I re-entered the full-time paid workforce in 2021 in a nonprofit communications and community engagement role that has included programming development, grant writing, management, strategizing, relationship building, creating communications standards, organizational anti-racism unlearning, and supervising interns. Prior to that, I worked in marketing for the design/build industry for nearly a decade before going to law school. After law school, I took a pause in traditional, full-time paid work and accepted project-based work and served as a volunteer. That volunteer work included nearly full-time work as both a caterer for meals for 200+, which bolstered organizational membership and giving, and as second in command running a $3M non-profit and leading the committee that brought on both an Executive Director and a Development Director. During my pause in paid work, I provided unpaid volunteer labor, often full-time, and became very familiar with the ways organizations rely heavily on free, frequently invisible labor, often from women, in positions that would be highly compensated if they were a traditional jobs. As an always working mother, I believe it is imperative we compensate those who offer their skills and expertise. In my life, I work to counter bias gently, with my focus on gender and age.
