FIRST AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) members work in low-income and low-resource communities to facilitate access to FIRST STEM programs.The VISTA program at FIRST strives to match an AmeriCorps VISTA to our field structure in support of teams within underserved communities. The FIRST AmeriCorps VISTA mission is to expand the vision of FIRST by working in areas that have been deemed underserved: lower socio-economic communities, rural areas, and areas that have little to no support or resources to be able to easily access STEM initiatives.VISTA Leaders work in a full-time capacity with FIRST HQ to provide support to their VISTA cohort out in the field. They provide capacity building for the VISTA program from a headquarters level to ensure its sustainability.

Assisted in facilitating three sets of three week long robotics/STEM based camps for students ages 5-12. These camps focused on utilizing LEGO Mindstorm robots to complete a series of challenges. As the director for the junior robotics program, I was responsible for keeping to a camp schedule, dealing with scheduling, communication to parents and other directors/staff, and working alongside our high school counselors to provide the students with the opportunity to design, build, program, and compete with their robots.
