• Provided direct representation to, and managed a large caseload of, clients with legal issues ranging from immigration, family law, housing, and public benefits. • Advocated for immigrant victims of violent crime and human trafficking, including unaccompanied minors, in multiple forums, including U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services; Immigration Court; local law enforcement agencies; and a variety of community organizations.• Co-counseled a precedent-setting case before the Delaware Supreme Court that helped ensure due process rights for recipients of public benefits in the State of Delaware.

• Conducted research and helped with trial preparation for cases brought by or against the State of New Jersey regarding health and human services.• Studied and observed prosecutor-led mental health jail diversion programs and prepared a policy memo and best practices guide regarding alternatives to criminal justice system involvement – and particularly to incarceration – for individuals with mental health issues.

• Conducted legal and policy research in support of Professor Baker's work, which focused on health insurance markets and issues of federalism as they relate to the implementation of the Affordable Care Act.• Took a leadership role in developing, and helped coordinate, a conference of experts in Health Insurance Exchanges and other aspects of Affordable Care Act implementation.

• Supported the work of the Aging and Disabilities Unit by researching and writing about major issues impacting the unit’s clients. • Reviewed medical records and other documentary evidence and prepared materials for administrative hearings. • Wrote legal memos that helped inform the organization’s advocacy efforts around Medicaid expansion in Pennsylvania.

• Researched and analyzed federal and state laws, regulations, and policies related to the establishment of health insurance exchanges under the Affordable Care Act. • Designed a survey for all fifty states to collect information on state-based health insurance exchanges and states’ efforts to expand Medicaid.

• Identified and analyzed literature reviews and synthesized complex information into reports and briefs targeted at researchers and policymakers, including a comprehensive review of evidence related to the effects of economic recession on children’s health and well-being. • Complied and analyzed statues, regulations, and policies related to a range of issues affecting children, including health care delivery and financing and public health priorities.• Co-authored 3 briefs on child abuse, child development, and preventing adolescent pregnancy, and an article about using the public procurement process to shape public health outcomes.
