As a School Engagement Officer NCS my main role was to recruit Young People (YP) onto the National Citizen Service (NCS) Programmes in East Devon. The NCS Summer Programme is a 4 week experience for 15-17 year olds. I recruited through presentations at assemblies, running sessions during tutor groups, meetings, events and making phone calls. During these events I collected Expression of Interest Forms (EOIs) from YP who were interested in the programme, I used this information to sell places on our Programme by phoning either the YP or their Parents.Duties:Inputting the EOI details from YP on to our database system - Salesforce.Prepare resource and application packs for events.Sell places on the NCS Programme.Liaise with schools, teaches, young people, parents, and other external organisations. Respond and deal with quires via email, phone and in person.Using the Salesforce system- Data entry - Assist Parent's and Young People through the Sign-up process - application packs, medical form, parent consent, programme selection- Reports creating- Campaign creating and managing- Logging communications with parents and young people In addition I also:Assist the Contract Manager in planning and delivering the NCS Programme.Arrange and view potential venues for Programme Social Action weeks. I worked closely with my support worker in delivering activities suitable for participants during their fundraising and chosen community projects. I liaised with the young people and their parents/carers. I also resolve minor issues on a daily basis; to ensure that the Team Leader Co-ordinator or NCS Project Manager was aware of all safeguarding issues.

During the school summer holidays I acted as a loco-parentis for unaccompanied children.I developed my soft skills, team work, responsibility and independence. I learnt to think on my feet, be adaptable and flexible. I assisted in other departments on site, undertaking kitchen duty, house-keeping and maintenance.In the first 8 months I achieved:-1. My NOCN Level 2 Award in Introductory Work in the Outdoors2. Helped a girl climb to the top of a 37ft tower, when she was terrified of heights.3. Helped a young boy with his self-confidence and esteem.4. Passed Zip Wire and Abseil Assessments first time round.I undertook in-house training in order to deliver sessions safely and appropriately.
