ethos.ink - A new series of newsprint publications by and for artists.Ethos.ink was founded by Kate Stevens and Ethos Fine Arts to publish the work of emerging and established artists in an accessible format, with a focus on artists using photography as part of their process.Traditional newsprint and ink in both tabloid and broadsheet formats provide a tactile and immersive experience, connecting us to a long history of analogue communication - the moment where you sit down and take time to enjoy a physical object, and learn something new. The curatorial context, background and history of the artists is explored fully online, along with image captions, leaving the publications as a purely visual experience.The aim is to take in the ethos and philosophy of each artist as directly as possible, through the work itself. Each publication is designed as a bespoke format in conjunction with the artists, responding to their original materials, concepts and processes.Ethos.ink publications are produced in the UK with a historical newspaper press that dates back to 1878, by an expert team of printers dedicated to the highest quality of reproduction. The format allows for accessibly priced publications available to the widest possible audience; a nimble and enjoyable alternative to weighty catalogues.Most of our titles launch in conjunction with major public museum or gallery exhibitions, and will be dedicated to the work of a single artist. Curatorially themed publications will follow, providing an opportunity to discover the work of more emerging artists, as well as the historical context for contemporary trends.Ethos Fine Arts provides fine art consulting on sales, marketing and business strategy as well as curatorial, research, editorial, design and publishing services.

Over the past five decades the gallery has presented over 900 exhibitions across its global locations, also supporting the production of artist’s publications and the presentation of works by gallery artists in art fairs, public galleries, museums and institutions around the world.The gallery programme includes major annual summer survey shows and renowned recurring exhibitions such as Artist of the Day and Small is Beautiful, which have formed an important high-profile platform for many emerging and under-recognised contemporary artists.Angela Flowers established her first gallery in 1970 on Lisle Street in London's West End. In the 1980s, the gallery was one of the first to open in London's East End, in a former laundry/fur storage facility in Hackney, and the space became known as Flowers East. Matthew Flowers, Angela's son, took over day to day operations in 1989. In 1997, the gallery expanded further with a Los Angeles space, at Bergamot Station.There are now two gallery spaces in London: a West End premises on Cork Street opened in 2000 and in 2002 the gallery moved from Hackney into a 12,000 sq foot industrial space in Shoreditch, East London. The US business relocated in 2003 from LA to New York on Madison Avenue, and then in 2009-2019 moved to West 20th street in Chelsea. A viewing space will open in Hong Kong in 2020.

The gallery has one of the largest inventories of classic 20th Century photography in the country particularly in humanist photography. Diverse holdings include work by Henri Cartier-Bresson, Sebastião Salgado, Steve McCurry, Ansel Adams, Paul Caponigro, Willy Ronis, André Kertesz, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Lillian Bassman, Pentti Sammallahti, Sarah Moon and Jeffrey Conley.

The Michael Hoppen Gallery opened in 1992 and is founded on a passion for photography. As a gallery we are renowned for nurturing the careers of new and interesting artists and exhibiting them alongside acknowledged nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first century photographic masters. Spaced over three floors in the heart of Chelsea, London, we provide both a white-wall arena for our contemporary artists and a more intimate, book and wood lined context for the smaller and more eclectic works we exhibit.The breadth of our collection is mirrored in the diversity of our collector base. Our clients range from public and private museums, corporate collections and experienced collectors to those who are embarking upon their first photographic purchase. We aim to present all those who come to the gallery with something unexpected; to broaden their perception of what photography can be while providing the expertise to understand it. As such we maintain a vigorous publishing program to compliment our exhibitions and expose our artists to a broader audience.The last two decades has seen photography grow from a marginalised art form to one of the mainstays of the contemporary art world. Although collaborating with numerous non-photo specific collections and institutions we still enjoy the boundaries imposed upon us by the photographic medium. As T.S Elliot so adroitly noted "When forced to work within a strict framework, the imagination is taxed to its utmost and will produce its richest ideas".
