Supporting students with a variety of special education and behavioural needs to achieve their potential in secondary school (either one to one, in groups or in the support centre). Working closely/mentoring particular students with 'challenging behaviour', mental health difficulties, problem home lives or those who are disengaged. Regular preparation of notes for CPOMs, maintaining communication logs and detailed disclosure reports, working alongside pastoral teams, Heads of Year and DSLs/SLT whilst adhering to the schools safeguarding procedures. Working closely with teachers/support staff to ensure the wellbeing of students. Passionate about supporting young people to get the most out of their schooling experience – academically and personally. Recent training: Mental Health First Aider, Child Protection, First Aid at Work. Particular interest in safeguarding, ADHD and young peoples mental health.

Managing the carers respite service, a provision for those living with dementia/life limiting illnesses/the elderly and frail. Duties included: managing a team of staff, volunteers and facilitators, planning and leading cognitive activities for members and ensuring their overall wellbeing at all times, offering practical/emotional support to carers/families including signposting, dealing with enquiries and actively promoting the services, preparing monitoring reports for/meeting with our funders, overseeing the smooth-running of the services included health & safety and acting as the safeguarding lead. This role also included budget/funding elements, the marketing of the services and working closely with lead providers/neighbouring organisations. As well as running these services, I trained members of the public and professionals as Dementia Friends and trained all new staff and volunteers in how to communicate effectively with those living with dementia. I have undergone dementia training and specialist training in communicating effectively with those living with cognitive impairments. I also assisted in the development of the charity’s activity centre; including its Help at Home, Dementia Support & community outreach projects.
