• Provides skilled perioperative nursing care to diverse pediatric patient population according to their individual needs and supervises associated personnel in related activities, level one trauma center.• Effectively utilizes the nursing process in preparing the patient for surgery and intra-operatively.• Assess and evaluates patients conditions prior to surgery, special consideration taken to include the patient’s developmental age, educational needs and family’s involvement in the treatment and care of the patient.• Collaborate with the surgical team to implement, and provide an individual care plan for each patient• Prepares the surgical suite by ensuring necessary supplies and instrumentation are present, sterility is maintained and surgical counts have been completed.• Promotes growth of others through precepting, mentoring, and orientation.• Serves as a positive, clinical role model to facilitate staff development and a positive work environment. • Provide high-quality nursing care, effectively utilizing the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation & continual assessment to terminally ill adult and pediatric patients (newborn – 26 years).• Provide skilled, compassionate, and high acuity transitional and end of life care.• Supervise & educate LVNs & CNAs in high quality patient care within their scope of practice.• Maintain central lines, administer TPN via CADD pump.• Provide tracheostomy & ventilator care for critically ill patients.• Continually assess for pain & determine appropriate administration of pharmacologic treatment.• Work collaboratively with inter-professional teams to create patient care plans for transitional & end of life care.
