I have represented the IOM3 at a number of government events also. During the course of my presidency I have four areas of focus where I wish to see improvement for the members benefit:- Student and Early Careers- Equity, Diversity and Inclusion- Industry 4.0- International membersIn this role I attend Executive Board and Renumeration Committee meetings as required. In addition, I chair Advisory Council, Awards Committee and Nomination Committee meetings. I also attend fortnightly Senior Trustee meetings to stay up to date with the day to day running of the IOM3. I am a Trustee of the IOM3 (Registered Charity number 269275 for England and Wales, SC0505586 for Scotland) and their new Outreach and Education trust (Registered Charity number 1201414).I received media training to aid in my responsibilities for this role. -

Through this role I am now also on the Nominations Committee and the Awards Committee. I received Trustee training in November 2018 to help me understand the responsibilities associated with this position.Through this role I was invited to present at the IOM3's 150th Anniversary on the future of science and engineering and on my career as part of Women in Engineering day for the Women in Materials group (now the Women in Materials, Minerals and Mining group).I was invited to judge the Brazilian final of the Young Person's Lecture Competition in 2019, sponsored by CBMM. -
Committee Member Of The Younger Members' CommitteeIom3 (Institute Of Materials, Minerals & Mining) Feb 2018 - Jan 2020London, London, GbI continued to support the YMC and younger members of the IOM3.I was responsible for the planning and running of Matopoly with it being held twice in 2018 in Liverpool and London (as part of the 2nd Russian-UK Raw Materials Conference event for Younger Members). I attended Junior Euromat on behalf of the IOM3 with the aim of improving our global reach. -
Chair Of The Younger Members CommitteeIom3 (Institute Of Materials, Minerals & Mining) Jan 2015 - Feb 2018London, London, GbI was elected Chair of the Younger Members Committee by my colleagues after being on the committee for nearly seven years. Since taking on this role, with the help of the committee and staff within the IOM3, I have set about trying to increase engagement with the younger members whilst improving the visibility and standing of the committee within the Institute. Events held since January 2015 that I have been involved in include:- Judge for the World Final of the Young Person's Lecture Competition (2015)- Matopoly: Birmingham Edition (2015)- Materials Matter (2015). The first conference for GCSE students held in conjunction with the IOM3's Schools Affiliates Scheme. - YMC meets (2016). An initiative to interview a range of people to provide career advice to the younger members. - Matopoly: Oxford Edition (2016)- Matopoly: Manchester Edition (2016)- YMC Chartership event (2016)- Materials Matter (2017)- YMC Arts Lecture (2017-8)- Art Competition to produce a piece to celebrate the YMC's 50th Anniversary (2017)- 21st Century PEI Meeting - Younger Members (2017)- Matopoly: Perth (Australia) Edition (2017)- YMC's 50th Anniversary Dinner (2017)Through this role I am required to attend Council and Managing Board meetings to ensure that the Younger Members thoughts are heard for a variety of decisions affecting the future of the IOM3.In November 2017 I was awarded a certificate for my Valued Contribution to the Institute's activities through this committee. -
Younger Members Committee MemberIom3 (Institute Of Materials, Minerals & Mining) May 2008 - Jan 2015London, London, GbThe Younger Members Committee primarily aims to represent the views of the members under the age of 35, which represent a third of all members, to the board of the IOM3. We also look at ways to promote the institute and material science with formal research conferences and lecture competitions and informal networking opportunities, such as Matopoly which I suggested and developed into an annual event. To achieve this I attend regular meetings at the IOM3 headquarters in London along with monthly lunch time teleconferences.Through my role on the committee I was invited to help judge the UK final of the IOM3's Young Persons Lecture Competition in 2012, 2013 and 2014. In 2014 I was part of a small team that assessed the marking scheme for the competition and the changes we made were successfully implemented from 2015.I also submit regular articles (once to twice a year) to the IOM3's magazine Materials World.In 2013-14 I was responsible for updating and maintaining the Younger Members Committee section of the IOM3 website. -
Lead Research ScientistCroda Jan 2019 - PresentGoole, East Yorkshire, GbI have recently been promoted to Lead Research Scientist. I am responsible for new product development, with a launch scheduled for Q3/4 2021, and manage one Research Scientist. -
Process Development Team Leader (Maternity Cover)Croda Dec 2017 - Dec 2018Goole, East Yorkshire, GbI set up the new Process Development team focussed on Long Term Projects. In this role I directly managed three Process Development Scientists who are new to the company. Training them myself, or through external training providers, as required in the techniques and processes required and the correct reporting of work in lab books and technical reports. Through the teams hard work we identified three potential solutions and have taken one through to a plant trial ensuring the appropriate process change forms have been completed. We also identified a number of cost-effective methods to reduce processing times and improve the quality of the final product for our customers.I presented the teams progress at the quarterly site meetings which included the site director, plant managers, research manager and logistics teams. I completed the ILM's Level Two Award in Leadership and Team Skills to help improve my skills and confidence in manging people. I also successfully applied for Chartered Engineer and Chartered Scientist through the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.I also worked with Deloitte to produce a report with the aim of receiving a tax rebate on the work completed by the old Process Development team in the previous tax year. -
