Rud Chains Ltd is the UK subsiduary of a German company Rud Ketten. Rud UK has been in existence for 40 years. We are a chain distributor, supplying, Hoist chain, Conveyors, Elevators, Slings, lifting points, Snow chains and shoe chains. All of our chain is produced at our factory in Germany. My role in the company is to oversee the accounts. Purchase Ledger, Credit Control, Banking, Cash Control and General Ledger. However, as we are a small office, I also get involved in the day to day sales enquiries, orders and invoicing.

Hill Billy was a family run business, designing, manufacturing and selling its own product as well as dealing with all after sales care. I was initially employed as a Sales Administrator, dealing with mail orders, telephone orders and customers on site at the warehouse. My role was to advise the customer, offer the choices and process the order. If customers were on site it was my job to demonstrate the product to them. I dealt with invoicing, filing, customer services, mailing out brochures and on occasion, during quiet times, which were mostly in the winter, helped by assembling some of the smaller spare parts that were required. Over the years the company grew and took on more staff and my role became more accounts based, dealing with Purchase Ledger, payroll and nominal ledger. During my time at Hill Billy I developed a wealth of experience that enabled me to deal with customers technical queries and diagnose and resolve faults over the phone and during the very busy periods I logged into the phones and dealt with sales and technical queries with the rest of the team.
