Kate (Whiting) Hatch Email and Phone Number
I am currently a Postdoc Fellow with the Henry M. Jackson Foundation in the Pathology Department at Uniformed Services University. I work in Dr. Perl's lab under the mentorship of Dr. Diego Iacono, researching the neuropathological consequences of blast TBI, low dose ionizing radiation, and cosmic HZE radiation, in several animal models.Recently, as a doctoral student in the Neuroscience Program and member of the Anatomy, Physiology & Genetics Department at USU in the lab of Dr. Zygmunt Galdzicki, I was researching the neurovascular and inflammatory consequences of high altitude exposure and traumatic brain injury (TBI). I previously received my B.S. in Brain & Cognitive Sciences from the University of Rochester, with a minor in Music Cognition. Prior to coming to USU, I was the research coordinator for Dr. Karakurt in the Family Medicine and Psychiatry departments at Case Western Reserve University, working on clinical research projects relating to intimate partner violence and TBI. At this time, I am interested in transitioning to clinical research into neuropathological mechanisms of TBI and recovery, with an interest in rehabilitation research. I would also be open to exploring a more outreach focused administrative role helping veterans and their families dealing with TBI/PTSD and rehabilitation.
