Since April 2018, Kate has held the role of Company Secretary and General Counsel at Baptcare, a $250M faith-based not-for-profit organisation that provides residential and community care for older people, and support to children, families and people living with a disability. Kate is responsible for supporting the boards of Baptcare and Baptcare Affordable Housing, and continuing to mature the organisation's governance framework in line with the its increasing size and complexity. Kate is also responsible for managing legal services across the organisation, and has previously held responsibility for risk management. Kate joined Baptcare in 2016 in the newly created role of General Manager Strategy. In this role, Kate was responsible for developing and leading strategy development across Baptcare's diverse market segments, identifying growth through acquisition, strategic alliances, partnerships and other opportunities, and developing networks across government, industry and peak bodies to identify emerging trends and support Baptcare's strategic engagement.Kate previously worked as an Associate Director in KPMG’s Management Consulting practice, advising government and not-for-profit clients across a broad range of portfolio areas, with a focus on the justice, health and human services sectors. Kate's areas of expertise include public sector governance and organisational frameworks, approaches to regulation, strategic development and policy design and implementation. Kate was seconded to KPMG's London-based global Infrastructure, Government and Health team in 2014.Kate commenced her government career in legal policy with the Victorian Public Service, following earlier roles with the National Health Service in the UK. She initially developed strategic and legal policy with the Department of Justice, and was admitted to practice while in this position. She has since completed her Master of Laws at the University of Melbourne. While working in government, Kate was also selected to undertake relationship building roles within Ministerial Offices, and was appointed Aide to the Governor of Victoria in 2007.Over her career, Kate has also held a number of honorary positions in the not-for-profit and education sectors, most recently as a board member for a large children and family services provider, and is currently the Deputy Chair of an independent girls' school. She has served as an Honorary Aide to the Governor of Victoria since 2009.
