I hold a M.Sc. in Applied Psychology (Industrial/Organizational specialization) and I am interested in understanding how management practices inform safety culture and safety related outcomes within organizations. I completed my thesis under the direction of Dr. Mark Fleming who holds a Professorship in Safety Culture. This research investigated how employees form perceptions of senior managers’ safety commitment.To best understand perceptions of leader safety commitment it is important we focus on employees and their experience of management practices. I have worked with a number of safety-critical organizations in a variety of industries, including transportation, oil and gas, and nuclear. I am primarily interested in organizational safety and the influence of leadership in shaping employee safety attitudes and behaviour. I support the use of evidence-based practices in order to assess and develop organizational safety.
