Learning and Design in Context for the Leadership and Learning in Organizations online EdD

Working with a conscientiously diverse team to stand up a new Science Center in the midwest, poised to be a regional attraction and a formidable youth-development force. My role has spanned implementation of pop-up appearances designed to build trust with various underserved communities to developing and implementing programming for the in-house makerspace.

As a member of the Youth Education group I was responsible for developing and delivering experiential learning opportunities to youth groups aged five to fifteen, as well as building and maintaining the necessary materials.

As both a long-term and short-term substitute, I have taught classes from 6th through 12th grade in English, History, Math, French, Music, and Human Relations.

After being taken on as an employee, I was trained as a general tutor, as a test-prep tutor. Soon thereafter, I was asked to join the company in a more significant role, and began contributing to educational theories and business strategies, developing the role of an academic mentor as well as helping to train new contractors. As a principal editor at a small company, my responsibilities included everything from writing reviews and various editorial fluff to overseeing final-stage copy-editing. I did art-direction on photo shoots, contributed some of my own photography, and consulted on layout and overall design. In 2005, I was the Books/Authors Editor, proposing and coordinating book and comic reviews as well as larger author profiles. I was also responsible for forging and maintaining contacts with all relevant publicists. I was later promoted to Assistant Managing Editor and continued to work with the editing team ad hoc until the magazine folded in January 2008.

Hired as a contract writer, I was asked to stay on (a two month contract was extended to six), taking over editorial roles including editing product descriptions for both Web and print, creating and maintaining the in-house style guide, and coordinating between various departments.
