68W- Combat Medic trained in battlefield medicine focusing on hemorrhage control, fluid resuscitation, airway management, and wound care. Cross trained in heavy weapons, marksmanship, convoy operations, demolitions, static site security, communications equipment and radio procedures, and personal security. Deployed to Tallil, Iraq for sixteen months in December 2005. Conducted mounted and dismounted patrols through urban and rural environments. Served as a convoy driver, gunner, worked up to truck commander, and eventually convoy commander in charge of as many as thirty vehicles. Contributed to route planning, logistical support, tactical execution, and after action reporting on dozens of missions in high threat areas. Logged hundreds of patient care hours treating battlefield injuries as an EMT-B in the base hospital emergency department.
