The Skip CPO group is a community of nearly 25 current and ex-head of products from across the tech industry, founded by Nikhyl Singhal. The group partners together on how to lead a product management function, successfully partner with the company’s leaders, craft product organizations, hire and scale a product management team, and expand a product line. Members have worked across dozens of industries, work in private and public companies that are growing rapidly, and are some of the most accomplished and influential executives in the industry.The CPO group is invitation-only and is part of the Skip platform devoted to help tech professionals get ahead in their career. It is the first Skip community, founded in April 2021.

HangoutsI spent the majority of my time at Google developing the Hangouts product. I began by launching the video calling product, helped pivot the product line to include messaging and voice calling, took the iOS app to market and eventually grew to manage the entire product line. • Started at APM, ended at PM 3 (4 promotions in 4 years) • Managed work of multiple PMs (directly managed 4) and dozens of dozens of engineers across 4 offices and 3 time zones • Launched Hangouts as a video calling product. Led multiple redesigns addressing feedback and streamlining value proposition. Integrated into Gmail and added calling phone #s • Launched Hangouts iOS app at Google I/O keynote in 2013. Redesigned app one year later, working closely with design and engineering teams. Personally architected product vision to address top issues. Relaunch took rating from 2.5 to 4.5 stars • Set unified product roadmap and strategy across web, Android, and iOS. Ex: focus on using phone #s in address book to instantly connect you with people you know • Person generally responsible for getting sh*t done and ensuring teams scale effectively: set culture, cadence, process, and strategy around recruiting and retention, planned office space, team events,etc. • Many public speaking engagements, including presentations to the CEO, keynotes of company-wide meetings, and press.
