I’m a graphic designer with a heart for illustration! I enjoy all the technical, creative and communicative challenges of design but everything comes together for me when I illustrate. My illustrations range from vector based—logo design, custom lettering, icons and commercial illustrations—to more classically rendered editorial and narrative imagery.Technical skills: I am proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. My Illustrations are executed in digital, pencil, ink and watercolor media.Creativity: Design has taught me to be creative within the parameters of a client’s vision and resources. I enjoy the challenge of producing work that not only meets my client’s need but elevates their narrative regardless of budget or resources.Teamwork: Whether I’m working directly with a client or as part of a design team, I’ve learned the importance of listening, understanding expectations and communicating clearly to fulfill my role as project manager or support team member.As a freelance designer, I’ve branded small businesses, startups and events. Recent work on my own “K is Kate” embroidery design business includes identity, web presence, packaging, social media marketing, product photography and instructional materials.As a studio production designer I’ve worked on large scale projects for major brands including Nike, Converse, Adidas, Fitbit, Smucker's and Providence Health & Services. Contributions to these projects include branding, retail decks, mechanicals and elevations.
