Tufts Cummings School Of Veterinary Medicine

As a student technician I was involved in both the medicine and surgery component of the hospital. I took care of patients in the hospital checking vitals, administering drugs and providing any care they received during their stay. During surgery I prepped the animal and surgery suite, remained during the surgery to assist the surgeons if they needed something and then post-surgery cleaned up the surgery suite. As previous co-coordinator I was in charge of scheduling the members of tech team and organizing training of new hires.

Worked at mobile veterinary clinics as a veterinary assistant. As an assistant I restrained animals, drew up vaccines and handled pet care products. I also interacted with the patient's owners answering any questions they may have regarding their pet.

Hadley, Ma

General staff. Involves feeding, cleaning, maintenance of ~45 Dorset sheep and ~20 Boer goats. I also supervise the freshmen helping.

Woodstock, Vt

My job involves helping manage a farm consisting of a herd of Jersey dairy cows, draft horses and Southdown sheep. My responsibilities include feeding, cleaning, general care, medical care and maintenance of all of the farm animals. In particular I milk the herd of cows twice a day. I also spend time interacting with visitors/the public, as well as give talks to school groups that come through the farm.

Mendon, Ma

Tasks included feeding, cleaning, handling, socializing, and minor medical care of a variety of animals in the center (repitles, birds, and mammals). Also educated the public about the animals and the efforts of the Discovery Center.

Northborough, Ma

General staff. Duties include assisting with canine therapy, interacting with pet owners, scheduling appointments, handling money, purchasing products, ordering supplies, and clean-up/maintenance of the center.

Schoharie, Ny

Residential summer internship. Daily hands-on work with shires—a large-breed draft horse averaging 1800-2000 pounds. Worked with, trained, and showed their horses and foals in hand showmanship and driving (both cart and wagon). Competed in: NY State Fair, Addison County Fair (Vermont), Saratoga Springs, NY Fair, and Altamont Fair (NY), Cobleskill Fair (NY). Other tasks: I observed breeding techniques, farrier tasks, and was taught how to and performed blood draws, vaccinations, and internal exams.

Northborough, Ma

Cashier. Worked the register, answered/transferred phone calls, restocked shelves, provided customer service, and responsibly selling tobacco products and lottery tickets.
