As the administrative and advising center of the Farmer School of Business, I welcomed visitors, students, faculty and staff to the office and initialized their experience within the school both in person and on the phone. I also systematized materials and led tours for prospective students, and I was responsible for scheduling appointments for academic advisers.

As a tax intern, I applied institutional and on the job training in order to assist in preparing tax documentation to comply with State and Local, Federal, and International tax regulations. Throughout this experience I was able to gain exposure to the taxation principles and practices of a wide variety of different sizes and types of entities, including Individuals, Partnerships, S-Corporations, C-Corporations, and Not For Profit Organizations. Additionally, I served as a mentor to underprivileged male youth by working with the Boys Scouts of America during their week-long camp.

As an analytics intern, I rotated through the departments of internal audit, accounting, tax, and reporting throughout the eleven-week summer program. During my reporting rotation, I created credit summaries for 8 of Health Care REIT’s largest operators that are part of their $16 billion medical facility real estate, management, development, and loan portfolio. While working in internal audit, I researched and created an initial draft of the corporate aircraft usage policy to be presented to the audit committee. Also, outside of my specific departments, I partnered with the group of 7 interns, as well as full time employees, from departments throughout the company to work on broad issues affecting the company, in areas such as recruiting and new hire orientation.

I was selected out of over 500 applicants to serve as a leader, campus resource, authority figure and adviser to the 230 first year students living in Dennison Hall. Throughout this experience, I utilized problem solving abilities to overcome conflicts within the corridor and to mentor residents through their tough transitional year into college. I also had many opportunities to collaborate with other staff members to create fun, educational programming for residents of the hall while operating under a given budget.
