Hi there! I am an aspiring data analyst/scientist/engineer in the healthcare field. My passion lies in asking and solving problems, as I am an innately curious person. A question pops into my head, and I instinctively take these unique ideas and push them further. An example:A few years ago, with no prior running experience, I set my mind on running a half marathon. It was challenging to say the least, but I was determined. Flash forward ~six months, and I am crossing the finish line. I was so proud of myself and yet was already thinking about how to challenge myself a little more. My mind went straight to how I had learned the physiological difference of running at altitude in prior courses and was intrigued to do my own little experiment. Signing up to raise money for St. Jude Children’s hospital, I ran a half marathon in Denver six months later. The results? No data was collected, but subjectively speaking, it has a significance on one’s RPE, haha - running at altitude is much more challenging.This example perfectly describes who I am and how I’m always looking to better myself and the world around me. That being said, I am not afraid to fail- defining the term fail as knowing when to stop instead of pushing on towards a dead end. This “failing” is inevitable and often the turning point towards something even greater. It provides insight to look at the problem differently or realize you are not asking the correct question.I’ve gained a lot of healthcare experiences, including researching under the head of my department. Having an in-depth background in healthcare provides a vital advantage for data science within the field, as I have a deeper understanding and interest in the data. I possess very competitive technical abilities and pick up new skills fast. My creative and critical thinking skills are strong, as well as my communication. Along with this, I have invaluable experience within my career, where I was thrown into a lead role after 7 months at Everyday Health Group. I was doing over 4x the work of the previous boss in the same amount of time (who had 3+ years of experience on me), on top of doing extra work such as building out a new pipeline and integrating the data of 3 companies. So really a much larger multiple, as that 4x takes up very little of my time. I love the quote from Steve Jobs '2 to 1 is a big dynamic range in most of life... in software.. the difference between average and the best is 50 to 1, maybe 100 to 1... very few things in life are like this.' This motivates me to change healthcare through data & technology.
