About Kate Gobes

As a Strategist and Registered Clinical Counsellor, I'm passionate about working with ADHD individuals. My understanding and insights stem from my role as an ADHD support group facilitator and counsellor working alongside ADHD clients, coupled with my personal experience as a neurodivergent student. In my graduate studies' culmination, I developed a theoretical framework, promoting Neurodiversity Affirming Care, aimed at fostering non-pathologizing support for those with ADHD within various settings.Drawing from my personal and professional background, I impart evidence-based, practical strategies to empower students and professionals to reshape their surroundings and navigate daily challenges with greater ease.

    In the fall of 2022 I was thrilled to initiate Dragonstone Counselling’s first ADHD support group. Along with my co-facilitator, we spent a great deal of time ensuring that this group would be neurodivergent-affirming and a place to build community. Functioning as a support group with psycho-educational pieces, we were able to offer an introduction to folks with new ADHD diagnoses. Topics that were explored included executive functioning, time blindness, emotional regulation, boundary setting, self-criticism and self-compassion.
