This is a platform to enable the growth and development of ideas and initiatives to make Leeds University and the city a more sustainable and healthy place. Key achievements: - Running a share your ideas event that was well attended positively received and highlighted the need for a platform to drive change - Formed relationships with external charities for example Love Food Hate Waste to work towards the shared ambition of reducing food waste

From June 2016-July 2017 I carried out an industrial placement working in the Food Structure and Ingredient Science team at PepsiCo International. Throughout this year I worked on numerous projects with focus on both early stage NPD as well as research and analysis. Key responsibilities that I had throughout my year at PepsiCo include:Organising and overseeing bench-top and pilot plant trials requiring time-management as well as people management skills.Frequently presenting project findings to key stakeholders and members of senior leadership teams improving my communication skills and my ability to present in a clear and concise manner.Independently leading numerous parallel internal and external project work-streams.Working alongside and corresponding with researchers who are leaders in their academic fields developing my scientific understanding.Working closely with STEM projects. Whilst at PepsiCo, myself and one other placement student organised and ran a STEM event taking place at PepsiCo in Leicester. This year has enabled me to develop numerous skills that will be applicable not only on my return to university but also in my future career whether that is in the food industry or in a different area.
