Profile bio

About Katekani Baloyi

I am a consummate professional specialising in the leadership of commercial strategy for consumer goods. I have intentionally structured my career – educational and professional – for self-development as a broadly capable commercial leader that can engage across markets, product industries and customer segments. I've spent over 18 years actively honing my analytical, strategic, and people skills to ensure that when the time and opportunity arose for me to take on a leadership role, I would be ready.A digital native with a Bachelors degree in Economics and Finance from UCT, followed up with 3 years each in the clothing retail and FMCG sectors, and 4 years in the technology/start-up/NPO sectors, I have developed a strong intuition for understanding customers, identifying opportunities to maximise value for them and the organisation, and most importantly, driving key strategies and tactics to consistently deliver over and above my promised results.Career Highlights- Ariel South Africa Launch (2014)As In-store Marketing Manager, I was part of the team accountable for the strategizing and execution of the best in class in-store campaign which heralded the launch of Ariel into the previously Unilever dominated (80%+ share at the time) South African laundry market, going from a zero to an 8%+ market share in a matter of months.- POSM Process Design (2013)The first In-store Marketing Manager for P&G RSA, I took on the roles and responsibilities previously managed by 5 mid-level managers. My role was to redesign an end-to-end process for delivering point of sale materials (POSM) which resulted in a significant improvement from less than 30% of projects being delivered on time to +80% of projects being delivered ahead of scheduled launch (despite late briefs). This required collaborating across a multi-functional team including stakeholders from brand management, marketing, sales, POSM design and production, and merchandising. My new process saw a reduction in wastage of POSM expense in excess of ZAR 20 000 000 annually. My process was described by the VP of P&G South East Africa as “better than the process he created.”- Markham Product Allocation Strategy (2010)As a Trainee Merchandise Planner for Africa’s largest standalone menswear retailer, I revamped the product allocation strategy resulting in weekly product clearance rates going from ~8% to 25%+ in the bottom 50% of stores, improving top-line revenue by 3-8% and reducing product markdown expense by ~10-30%.

Listed skills include Highly Analytical, Strategic Planning, Microsoft Office, Product Strategy, and 46 others.
