Online since February 2011, the blog’s readership has grown quickly, to 6000 readers in August 2011. Over seventy percent of McGill’s student population and about forty percent of staff regularly use the state-of-the-art athletic facilities at McGill’s downtown Montreal campus. These facilities include the historic Percival Molson Stadium, the Sports Complex, McConnell Arena, as well as the McGill Sport Medicine Clinic. Daily visits to the Sports Complex number over 3,000, with even more people streaming into their facilities at game time to support the McGill Redmen and Martlets varsity teams. In addition, McGill’s Summer Sports Camp welcomes over 1,000 children to their facility during the summer months.

The Terry Fox Foundation initiates over 9,000 Terry Fox Runs each year- all volunteer-led and organized in the name of Terry Fox, a young Canadian was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma (bone cancer) in his right leg in 1977 and had his leg amputated 15 cm (six inches) above the knee. While in hospital, Terry was so overcome by the suffering of other cancer patients that he decided to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research. He called his journey the Marathon of Hope. To date, The Terry Fox Foundation has raised over $600 million for cancer research worldwide. The Terry Fox Foundation is one of the largest non-governmental funders of cancer research in Canada, funding many different types of cancers; current multi-year studies include lung, ovarian, colorectal, pancreatic, oral, liver, oncolytic viruses and many more.
