Manage the Partnerships, Technology & Innovation Department, overseeing a staff of 11. The Department is dedicated to researching, developing and implementing transformative technology and transportation programs that implement Connect SoCal. The core focus is on local partnerships to deploy innovative pilot projects and programs and is comprised of two business units. The Regional Pilots business unit works with SCAG’s multi-modal transportation and land use planning departments to design and implement innovative pilot projects that allow for more transportation options in the region and reduce the region’s reliance on cars. The team develops projects to demonstrate innovative, next generation technologies and models of regional significance, specifically those with the potential to change transportation and housing paradigms towards building more sustainable communities. The Technology and Innovation business unit conducts research and designs pilot demonstrations to evaluate new and emerging technologies. The team expands SCAG’s engagement with new partners; develops tools to guide local agencies to prepare for disruptive technologies; and identifies strategies and policies that support and reinforce regional goals including equity. The team focuses their work on broadband, clean transportation technologies, and regional smart cities strategies, among other topics.

Manage the Partnerships for Innovative Deployment Department, overseeing a 6-member staff, and managing a $100 million budget. Developing and leading the REAP 2.0 funded Transportation Partnership Programs, including the County Transportation Commission Partnership Program and the Regional Pilot Initiatives Program. Launching innovative mobility and technology projects across Southern California.

Oversaw $6.5 million in contracts with California’s two investor-owned utility companies to operate the California Preschool Energy Efficiency Program (CPEEP). Managed energy efficiency audits, retrofits and impact reporting for approximately 1,000 child care facilities statewide. Developed an energy efficiency awareness campaign and implemented an engagement program to convey complex environmental and financial data and information to child care facility operators at statewide, county, and local conferences, presentations, and workshops.

Developed a streamlined engagement strategy and outreach materials to implement a program marketing campaign for CPEEP. Oversaw development of web-based systems to engage child care operators, enhance program registration and track program goals, budgets, and vendor invoices.
