For over a decade, Katelin Wright has worked within the Homeland Security Enterprise, specifically at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service. She currently serves as an Adjudication Officer, specializing in training with Refugee International Operations. Katelin uses her professional experience and her academic inquiry on climate change to teach and write about climate security. Her novel research on climate change-induced migration received the Center for Homeland Defense and Security (CHDS) Outstanding Thesis Award. After graduating from the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), she has continued to pursue her passion for exploring the nexus between climate change and migration, along with exploring the risks, surprises, and unexpected opportunities climate change might have on the future of U.S. Security. She has given numerous presentations and participated in panels on both topics at her alma mater and FEMA. She has experience writing policy recommendations, professional speaking, and peer-reviewing journal articles. Recently, Katelin participated in the 2021-2022 Climate and Security Advisory Group (CSAG) Climate and Security Fellowship Program. As part of the program, she attended monthly talks with leading professionals in climate security and had a blog post and briefer published with The Center for Climate and Security.
