Fellows from engineering, medicine, business, design, computer science and research backgrounds work together in interdisciplinary teams to observe and identify unmet needs and collaboratively create products to solve them.TMC’s digital health track takes a novel approach to biodesign by focusing exclusively on creating digital health solutions for health care’s greatest unmet needs. Fellows collaborate to design transformative mobile, web and cloud-based products, data analytics, remote monitoring, sensors and wearables, population health management, EMR solutions and telemedicine.

Improving the OB/GYN patient's experience through a physician-informed, patient-centric redesign of the vaginal speculum- Won Best Elevator Pitch, Best Company Showcase, Pearland EDC's Spirit of Entrepreneurship Prizes at the Rice Business Plan Competition- Won Audience Choice at the Napier Rice Launch Challenge- Won First Place at the Rice Qualifier

• Assemble, maintain, and repair optical imaging equipment to support ongoing clinical studies for early detection of cancer. These studies are carried out in collaboration with the University of Texas M.D Anderson Cancer Center, the University of Texas Health Science Center, Baylor College of Medicine, Barretos Cancer Hospital (Barretos, Brazil), and CICAMS (Beijing, China).• Perform data and image analysis with Matlab and OpenCV.• Interact regularly with clinical personnel and with study subjects.• Implemented diagnostic AR imaging system in multiple clinics in China for esophageal cancer screening and surveillance clinical trial.• Co-invented novel attachment for fiber optic probe that allows smooth translation across tissue for easy imaging. Intellectual property for device in progress.

• Maintained and cultivated positive relationships and communications with key stakeholders, including donors, customers, clients and volunteers through email, social media, and in-person meetings/presentations. • Assisted in preparation, coordination and planning for community and sales events.• Provided heavy administrative support through developing policies and procedures, entering client and personnel data, assisting with writing correspondence such as newsletters and program updates, and other administrative duties, as necessary.• Supported staff and volunteers in carrying out client services functions. • Supported volunteer management, including recruitment, orientation and support functions.• Supported financial management functions, including Quickbooks and checking account for product sales. Helped track sales and other financial performance metrics for social enterprise.

• Designed and conducted original lesson plans to accommodate varying levels of English proficiency and the standardized national English curriculum in Malaysia.• Developed English literature unit for senior level students that was utilized by all English teachers to prepare students for national test • Collaborated with local officials and administrators to navigate sensitive cultural situations and fulfill mutually beneficial deliverables in a highly diverse environment.• Developed and implemented multi-disciplinary, in-country programming and extra-curricular activities for students, teachers, community members and other Fulbright grantees.• Coordinated 3 English camps in collaboration with state education officials, teachers, and fellow ETAs, each with a total of 50-100 attendees• Raised awareness of environmental issues by organizing student recycling and education programs.

Hired on for a second internship with MAKO Surgical Corp. Position required many of the same responsibilities as during the first internship but because I was already familiar with the products and software I was given more involved assignments including the following:▪ Created method of translating software for international release▪ Used Solidworks to create new prototypes for research and development testing▪ Worked with subject matter experts to test performance and eliminate test system uncertainties ▪ Created and reviewed software requirements to ensure they were clear, testable, and correct while in a highly regulated FDA environment▪ Conducted verification and validation testing and created reports for release of new product software▪ Communicated cross functionally on a regular basis with software quality assurance team, software engineering team, and platform development teams ▪ Gained a familiarity with medical terminology, knee and hip replacement, and computer assisted surgery while adapting to a highly specialized robotic-medical field▪ Renewed AORN Operating Room Protocol Certification

Main goal was to engineer a biomaterial that could repair damaged muscle tissue.

Conducted application and systems testing on the MAKO Robotic Arm Interactive Orthopedic System (RIO) for total hip and knee replacement which included the following activities: • Tested company's new product offering utilizing FDA Design Control Protocol. • Involved with marketing and testing teams to introduce new product software platforms. • Conducted research project to analyze efficiency and accuracy of software interface.• Completed AORN Operating Room Protocol certification.
