I manage media relations for the Corporate Communications and Marketing division within the City of Charlotte. I respond to any media requests related to city services or the City Manager’s office. I take a proactive and strategic role in the City’s approach to communications and use myexpertise to advise city departments on their own outreach campaigns. I also help devise the City’s plan for Crisis Communications and regularly conduct training for communications professionals across the City.

I serve as deputy spokesperson for the Department of Human Services. Our agency includes 10 diverse divisions, for all of which I serve as spokesperson. I am responsible for writing press releases, responding to media inquiries, graphic design work, website development, event planning, video production, and managing social media for the agency. I network with and outreach to local and national media to generate stories about my agency. I also work to respond to legislative requests and resolve constituent issues. For two months, I served as Interim Communications Director and handled all communications duties for the agency during legislative session.

I was responsible for coordinating public hearings and other school and community events for the agency. I wrote, edited, and developed brochures, articles, and outreach literature for distribution and publication across the state.

I developed story ideas each day and conducted interviews with a variety of people. I gathered information and wrote a news story. I delivered the story live on television and posted it on the web. I worked under tight deadlines and high pressure situations.

I manage all news related activity at UATV (University of Arkansas Television), a student-run station reaching 80,000 homes. I perform regular critiques of producers, talent, and news cast production and I implemented a guideline of standards for all material broadcast on our station.

I made beat calls and conducted research for news reporters. I also assisted reporters and photographers and conducted interviews. I was also given the opportunity to host the morning show, Good Morning Arkansas.
