I am a freshman at the University of Connecticut and a future nurse. I knew I was meant to be a nurse when I completed a job shadow at a local hospital the summer before my senior year. I shadowed labor and delivery nurses, and over the course of the two days I observed them caring for patients pre and postpartum, assisting in delivery, administering medications, and performing procedures such episiotomies. I effectively displayed care-giving skills by fetching necessary items like water, blankets, and pillows for patients to help make them comfortable during their hospital stay. Getting to assist people in their time of need was the most rewarding experience of my life, and I look forward to making helping people my full-time job. In the meantime, as I continue my education, I am interested in developing my strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, which I have developed through working at the Max Challenge and years of involvement in sports, extracurriculars, and volunteering. I look forward to making a difference and taking he next step towards my career goals!
