Being the Prevention Specialist, I go into all the public Middle Schools in Martin County and teach about promoting healthy relationships. We cover a variety of topics in our 8 week program from Healthy and Unhealthy Relationships, to Active listening, to Gender Roles, and Communication.

Mental health and crisis intervention for students of a K-8 school

The major goal of this position was to prevent teenage pregnancy. Every semester we spent about a week in each class teaching about how a teen pregnancy changes lives. We talked about budgeting, education, and let students take home robotic babies for the weekend to see what parenting an infant is truly like.

As a Middle Schools English Language Arts Teacher (ELA), including Special Education, I was responsible for more than just teaching. Daily tasks included classroom management, administrative work, lesson planning, grading, data tracking, parent contact, and educational accommodations.
