As a graduate from the University of Georgia’s Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, I am confident that my skills and educational background in the outdoor environment make me a strong candidate for this position. I believe my past work experience, exceptional communication and organizational skills, and overall passion for outdoor education work would allow me to thrive in a professional outdoor career.My most recent position as a Solo Crew Leader for Montana Conservation Corps provided me with the knowledge and skills I need to succeed an outdoor professional. As a Solo Crew Leader, I worked closely with the National Park and Forest Service in remote Wilderness areas. During my time with Montana Conservation Corps I gained experience with high-priority conservation projects including the log-out, maintenance, drainage, construction, and brushing of trails. My planning and logistical skills allowed me to prosper in the field and lead my crew to exceed expectations with daily tasks and procedures. Prior to my time as a Solo Leader I was a Backcountry Crew Member with the Northwest Youth Corps. We spent 12 weeks in the backcountry of Mt. Hood Wilderness where I gained strong communication and technical skills. In addition to my backcountry experience, I am currently enrolled to attend the Outward Bound Oregon Outdoor Educator course in March 2019. The course will be comprised of a variety of skill building elements including wilderness techniques across multiple environments, communication development and in depth learning of mountaineering, snow camping, rock climbing, whitewater rafting and wilderness first responder. Furthermore, my hard work ethic, determination to succeed, and ability to work efficiently with others, are attributes that would undoubtedly help me excel in this position. I am confident that my past experience, educational background, and outdoor skills would allow me to exceed expectations.
