About Katie Hettinga
I am a 2023 graduate of the University of Idaho with B.S. degrees in Political Science and Agricultural Economics - Applied Economics emphasis. I lived in Idaho until my college graduation, when I relocated to Washington, D.C. I am currently the Rethink Trade Program Associate with the American Economic Liberties Project.In my current role, I provide administrative and research support to leaders in the progressive trade movement and contribute original data analysis for talking points and research products. My previous work in student government and student involvement at UIdaho centered on social action and civic engagement. As student body Director of Legislative Affairs then Vice President, I worked with a team of other appointed and elected student leaders to represent undergraduate student interests to decision makers and implement programming that students wanted. As a social action and leadership coordinator with the Department of Student Involvement, I worked to get students out to vote! My efforts to improve voter education and engagement got the University of Idaho named as a Most Engaged Campus by the All In Campus Democracy Challenge.
