Mrs. Dimmer was instrumental in developing an energy management system and completing certification to the ISO 50001 standard at the first steel mill in the US to be certified. She led teams in the melting rolling and processing plants to measure and monitor energy use, complete efficiency improvement projects and improve employee awareness. She worked with local and state agencies to obtain over $300,000 in grants and incentives over a 2 year period. As part of the development of the energy management system, she worked with technical resources to complete an equipment inventory of all energy using equipment of a steel mill with over 900,000 sq ft of production area. Katie facilitated an energy treasure hunt which included 30 participants over a 3 day period. This energy treasure hunt identified low cost and no cost improvements with over $400,000 in potential savings. Katie’s work as one of two members of the energy department help the team receive 2 awards in 2017:• Department of Energy Better Plants “Better Practices” award 2017• Industrial Energy Technology Conference “Leadership in energy conservation and environmental stewardship” 2017Katie received the Association of Energy Engineer's 2018 Young Energy Professional of the Year award.

Mrs. Dimmer has experience managing and supporting environmental compliance activities. These activities include storm water management, annual reporting, waste management, wastewater treatment, air pollution and prevention, and radiation protection. In these areas Mrs. Dimmer is involved with data collection, compliance reporting, material sampling, procedure writing, training, permit applications, audits, calibrations, continuous improvement, project management and presentations.

Assisted in research that helped yield estimates of sediment transport, discharge and the corresponding bed forms as a function of flow conditions.

Kinematics research assistant that studied the movement of children with spina bifida using EKG and visual flow data

Assisted in finding carbon dioxide laser emissions by adjusting voltage, wattage and micron bands. The newly measured frequencies were analyzed along with their corresponding wavelengths.
