I joined Starbucks for the college benefits and never imagined I would have learned as many invaluable skills as I have since starting in 2021. I have fully immersed myself in the values that they spearhead, experiencing just how valuable courage and pride in my craft can be in my personal life as well as my professional life. I have also come to realize how important a sense of belonging and creating joy is in not only my life but in those that surround me. I have made personal goals that revolve around boosting the morale at my store as well as giving back to the community that supports us. This has led to creating a free little library in my store for partners and customers to enjoy, as well as gift bags to congratulate our partners on work anniversaries and other achievements like Partner of the Quarter. I have also started an Adopt-a-Highway group consisting of baristas that prioritize environmental sustainability like me. Outside of Starbucks, I have found a great volunteer opportunity to help in the spay and neuter clinic at Pawmetto Lifeline which aligns with my passion for outreach and my passion for animals and their safety. The connections I made at Pawmetto Lifeline gave me the unique opportunity to intern at Celebrate Freedom Foundation where I am on a diverse team of aerospace instructors and pilots that have made it their priority to teach STEM to underserved communities and inspire them to pursue aviation. My team is currently working on creating a curriculum for K-8th grade students to learn more about aviation and drones specifically. I have introduced Human Centered Design to the team and have found it to be extremely effective in designing a solution for this program.
