Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital seeks to provide short-term inpatient care for those experiencing psychosis, medication-assisted detox, and self-harming behaviors. My role is to manage the Chemical Dependency unit caseload, which ranged from 6-14 clients at any given time. In this position, I empower those with substance abuse history to take control of their treatment and be a contributing member in treatment and aftercare planning. I often help my patients recognize the impact of their dual diagnoses and prioritize their treatment concerns. Occasionally, I also work with those experiencing suicidal ideation, attempts, or their first episode of other mental health disorders.

Vantage Point at Wasatch Mental Health is a 24-hour crisis shelter for youth ages 11-17. With a variety of kids coming and going, it can be a challenge to coordinate programming, assessment, treatment planning, discharge, and regular group and individual therapy. However, despite the constant flow of clientele and demands, this 8-month internship allowed me to gain first-hand experience under supervision.

Most people couldn't say they have seen the inside of a prison. I had the opportunity to spend four months in one. Working alongside female substance use offenders, I helped enact behavior change, create discharge plans, and learn a little bit about common thinking errors and behavior patterns of those with addiction.

BYU"s University Advisement Center seeks to assist wandering students in college questions such as "What should I major in?" "What careers should I consider?" and "Who am I and what do I desire in a career?"Specific job duties include:-Guide over 30 students a week in understanding their career goals, personal values, and strengths-Maintain FERPA and HIPAA confidentiality while communicating with parents and other related systems-Keep up-to-date notes and interventions for hundreds of students in any given time frame.

At BYU Career Services, students can meet one-on-one with a peer mentor to receive help in areas such as resume and cover letter building, LinkedIn and other networking tools, interviewing techniques, and career exploration.Specific Duties included:-Assisted 10-20 BYU students and alumni a week in their pursuit for career excellence by reviewing resumes and cover letters, and by performing mock interviews to help them gain experience related to the work force. -Collaborated with the university's accessibility coordinator to promote programs for those with disabilities through completing various projects and through publishing a weekly newsletter. -Maintained schedules for 8 different career directors via Ymessage.-Presented training for 15 fellow mentors on subjects such as motivational interviewing and networking.

HELP International is a non-profit organization that seeks to provide entrepreneurial, health, and educational intervention efforts to communities from multiple countries. The specific Thailand and Nepal sectors focused on community education and well-being interventions.Thailand• Identified over 10 community public health needs and supplied solutions to each issue • Drafted and edited a 25-page health curriculum that focused on sex education, hygiene, and mental health• Evaluated the living situations of 5 villages, assessed their desire for health access, and then educated each village on health in weekly lessonsNepal• Worked at a shelter housing 50 young women who were sex-trafficking victims and gained first-hand experience with health issues, rehabilitation, and social reintegration• Motivated the girls in their pursuits of education, emotional stability, and in developing social skills/confidence

Utah County Crisis Line (UCCL) is a startup crisis support line whose aim is to become accredited as a crisis line. Job duties:-Researched and compiled national, state, and local data on suicide prevention in order to understand the complexity of the issue better. -Created a powerpoint detailing the data as well as plausible interventions and areas of interest. This presentation was used to inform local organizations and businesses about UCCL so that the organization receive more funding.
