Work in a fast-paced start-up bakery to lead and manage a 16-member baking team and oversee daily pastry and bread production. Develop and implement recipes, manage staff training and schedules, oversee all order fulfillment (wholesale and retail) and catering commitments. Collaborate directly with ownership to scale production tactics, establish protocols, and grow to meet our community's needs.

Oversaw the first year of the Friends of the Farm pilot program, a state-funded initiative that sourced $750,000 of fruits, vegetables, beans, and animal proteins from small-scale Arizona farms for distribution through Arizona's food banks and pantries.Program management included farm recruitment and outreach, developing best practices, negotiating grower agreements and crop plans, managing applications and awarding contracts, coordinating statewide deliveries, and reporting.

Fostered strong community food networks in urban and rural regions of the state by providing technical assistance, resources, and connections to small- and mid-size farms, purveyors, distributors, and food coalitions. Role highlights: • Managed and relaunched Arizona's comprehensive online directory of local food, Good Food Finder• Inventoried & engaged 900+ farmers and food artisans• Managed annual Arizona Food & Farm Forum which have convened 1000 farmers and local food advocates to strategize and plan for a robust community food network. Event management included marketing, ticketing, program development, speaker management, sponsorships, logistics, and surveys.• Facilitated technical assistance in marketing, food safety, federal and state assistance programs, local conservation districts, methods of sales and distribution to build capacity.• Planned & executed all communications with Arizona food producers and distributors via e-newsletter, community media sources, online support groups, partner listserves, social media, blogs, website development, etc.• Partnered with local Economic Development Corporations and non-profits to conduct Food System Assessments, including facilitating community meetings, administering surveys, aggregating data, and making recommendations. Contributed to assessments in Gila, Pinal, and Maricopa counties. • Consulted regularly for Arizona restaurants and retailers to localize their food procurement; clients include the Phoenix Convention Center, Sprouts Farmers Market, Arrive Hotels, and various local businesses.

Supported growth and development of urban agriculture in the desert Southwest by overseeing the volunteer program, planning and coordinating organizational outreach, and managing signature annual events.Role Highlights:• Directed programming and secured community support for the organization’s mission to inspire sustainable urban living in the desert Southwest, particularly in relation to backyard food production. • Oversaw community seed library, annual Tour de Coops (self-guided tour of backyard chicken coops!), and shade tree giveaways for communities around Maricopa County.• Recruited, trained, and retained 400 volunteers annually for event support, community outreach, program leadership, and office administration; Developed capacity of leadership volunteers with group skill-trainings and individual coaching sessions.• Managed organizational outreach at trade shows, farmers markets, and community events, including generating display content & design, material production, and impact tracking.• Created and applied web-based marketing materials and managed online calendar. Activated online engagement through content-rich social media, e-newsletters, and community message boards.

Built grassroots, public support for rooftop solar in Arizona by developing strategy, messaging, and building local relationships. Recruited coalition of over 50 businesses and organizations in support of the campaign, and lobbied Arizona elected officials for their endorsement. Fostered media relations and hosted a press conference covered by 5 major statewide news sources. Activated members through phone banks and political action. Fundraised for the organization through winter membership drive.During election season, work shifted to administrative work: overseeing the launch of 12 temporary campaign offices in 7 states. Conducted payroll for 300 hourly employees, negotiated and opened 9 short-term office leases. Supplied all locations with office supplies and locally printed campaign literature for five weeks of operation.

Collaborated with the Sustainability Advisory Committee to further sustainability efforts across campus. Served as the main contact and resource for campus conservation and sustainability initiatives. Founded a working group to develop a long-term campus sustainability vision and Climate Action Plan, supervised 15 interns, and guided students and staff in campaign planning and execution. Directed student collaboration with campus faculty, staff, students, and City of Walla Walla employees to conduct accurate, annual audits of Whitman College’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Created Bea's Beauty Bar, hand-crafted goat milk soap, and founded business to manufacture and wholesale the product in the Verde Valley and Greater Arizona. Designed packaging for soap, as well as promotional materials. Maintained a healthy and productive herd of dairy goat does. Promoted sustainable living through bi-annual farm tours and open houses, free to all age groups.

Conducted research in vermiculture (composting with worms) with various organic wastes and explored health-requirements of epigeic worm species to determine optimal decomposition rates.

Founded monthly newsletter in collaboration with Yavapai County and the Cornville Community Association to increase communication throughout the unincorporated community of Cornville. Wrote over 40 articles on community's history, news, and events. Completed digital layout and editing for monthly print edition. Designed and maintained website for the publication.
