I began my social change career in 1985 while a college student at Boston University working on social justice issues from Universal Health Care to cleaning up toxic waste dumps in low-income communities. In 1991, at the age of 26, I found my true passion – working with youth – and co-founded the youth art and entrepreneurship program, Artists for Humanity. Twenty-seven years later, Artists for Humanity continues to thrive. After two university roles at Harvard and The New School building entrepreneurial and educational programs with undergraduate and graduate students, I moved back to the non-profit start-up world, serving first as the Chair of the Board at iCouldBe from 2001 to 2005 and then moving into the Executive Director role in 2006. Since 2006, 21,500 kids from low-income communities across the U.S. have been paired with e-mentors for more than 270,000 mentoring hours and have discovered their value and confidence to develop networks of support and to build meaningful, creative adult lives. When I'm not leading iCouldBe to new heights, you can find me cooking gourmet meals for family, friends and colleagues, remodeling a room in my home with my wonderful and talented husband Brian or walking our dogs, Bandit and Finn, on the beach. Specialties: Twenty-five years of diverse experience in launching, managing, and growing not-for-profit organizations, with demonstrated success in areas including strategic growth, program development, strategic partnerships, board development and management, strategic planning, and fund development. Solid background in building community-based approaches to solve difficult educational and social issues, especially with regard to serving low-income youth.
