I am a senior scientist in the Biological Sciences Unit in the New Orleans Office of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management. As coastal science lead, I seek to understand and minimize the impacts of marine energy and mineral exploration and development. I manage multiple projects focused on gathering and communicating environmental information to assist in Bureau decision-making.

As an oceanographer in the Division of Environmental Sciences at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) within the Department of Interior, I serve as a subject matter expert for BOEM's Environmental Studies Program. I specialize in biological investigations focused on the potential environmental impacts of offshore oil, gas, and alternative energy development. Additional duties include program development, climate change policy, and interagency/international marine policy coordination.

I served as a critical liaison between NOAA’s senior corporate leadership and the Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research. Critically evaluated NOAA's research priorities and programming. Provided counsel and staffing to OAR leadership on issues related to NOAA's climate, oceanographic, and weather research portfolios.

Naval Observatory

Coordinated the planning and implementation of marine policy for Navy/DOD. Served as acting Climate Change Affairs Officer. Advised the Oceanographer of the Navy on policy issues including climate change, ocean observations, ocean acidification, environmental security, and the National Ocean Policy.

- Performed independent, contemporary biogeochemical research in freshwater and marine environments. - Designed aquatic and oceanographic studies including scheduling, budgetary analysis, and personnel management including the supervision and mentoring of 5 undergraduate researchers. - Produced multiple scientific proposals for oceanographic research projects and disseminated findings through the preparation of scientific manuscripts and presentations at national and international conferences.
