Elected to serve as Secretary of HCDP for 2017-2019 term. Working with great people to build the strength of Democrats in Hamilton County and Tennessee!

Work in a variety of capacities as needed; primary projects recently have been (1) creating/presenting workshops on tenants’ rights and civil rights, (2) creating/presenting talk at “Q Commons” event on issue of eviction, and (3) teaching “People’s History of Chattanooga” research to students at local youth centers.

Served in all roles connected with the functions of the union in East Tennessee, including but not limited to internal organizer, researcher, lobbyist, bargaining team member, formally trained collaborative mediator, writer and researcher of briefs for arbitration cases, and any other role connected with union activity in East Tennessee.Managed teams of stewards in two chapters (a municipal government and a private hospital), responsible for representing over 1000 union members. Grew and developed steward pool in both chapters, conducted many trainings for new and experienced stewards on diverse skills. Organized a variety of events for each chapter.

Recruited and organized low-wage workers in St. Louis to join SEIU’s national campaign to unionize fast food.Worked as the lone organizer in Nashville, Tennessee for a one-month campaign which led to a successful protest of workers and community supporters on the national strike day, December 5, 2013.

Investigated unfair labor practice charges by taking affidavits, analyzing various supporting documents, and requesting evidence from charged parties. Wrote memoranda, recommended agency positions to supervisor and presented cases to the Regional Director.Managed representation case from start to election. Facilitated negotiation of a stipulated agreement between union and employer and assisted in conducting the subsequent election.

Completed adjustment of status documents for refugee clients based on interviews and a thorough review of files, in situations often involving large families and complex backgrounds.

Created new business graphics and promotional materials for business English courses.Taught English to groups of Mexican chemical engineers, including technical and business English.

Created, coordinated, and taught courses in English and teaching methodology. Tailored each course to fit the needs of secondary teachers from eighteen villages with limited resources. Developed and taught anti-trafficking and leadership classes to adolescent girls.
