"DJ Shields has been hanging around DJ decks since 2015, bringing eclectic bangers to queer crowds and party monsters at circus shows, drag nights and clubs in Brighton, London and beyond. You may have caught them at Traumfrau, Trans Pride, After Party, Brighton Pride, Soho Theatre’s Drag Lab, Let’s Have A Kiki, Butch Please, Cabarave, La Nuit and many, many more."My regular night TRASHDANCE- a monthly night at infamous historic venue The Marlborough Theatre (now known as The Actors) features femme-fronted tracks, 80s/90s/00s nostalgia, queered-up hip hop, electro, ballroom, new wave weirdness and just the right amount of POP!I regularly team up with other DJs: as one third of the Hydra known as Kitty Glitter Kollective, who have raised electro havoc across Brighton at venues such as Komedia, Cowley Club and FLOSS with nights such as ‘Mi Piaci’ dedicated to Euro pop, electro. They even ran one night devoted entirely to The Knife. In 2023 they began a night at Fabrica called Church of Italo.In 2018 i teamed up with DJ Killer Jules for the first’ Is That All There Is To A Disco’ at Hotel Pelirocco, a semi-regular Brighton night of ‘weird music by weird women’ that’s since appeared at Rialto Theatre, Rossi Bar and The Spire. i streamed online regularly during the pandemic on Mixcloud and Twitch, recording eclectic themed radio shows such as ‘Beyonce in a Lifetime’- a night of back to back Beyonce and Talking Heads tracks- ‘Queer Record Swap’ and ‘The Saddest Music In The World.’Since 2022, I have been a house DJ at Soho Beach House, and I regularly DJ at other private events.

"Kate Shields (any pronouns) is an artist living and working in Brighton, making process-driven work in a diverse range of media.Often using references to queer aesthetics and culture, her work aims to escape the trappings of normative identities, gender, and physical and mental health difficulties.Through the systematic documentation and recording of body-based experiences – movement and stillness, grief and anxiety, illness and recovery- she creates mixed media work with the digital/physical body that expresses the desire to survive, process and move forward."I sell drawings, paintings and prints, as well as run experimental life drawing classes in and around Brighton, both by myself, and with the life model collective, Artists, Models, iNK, founded in 2011.I graduated in June 2019 with a First in Fine Art from Northbrook MET. I am a founding member of a small group of life models and artists in my hometown of Brighton. We meet regularly to share our experiences as life models, discuss and share work, and curate occasional events, based on the history of the artists’ model.In March 2011 we put together our first experimental evening of life drawing, performance art, spoken word and live music, and led by the success of this evening, we have since put together many more events, including family-friendly life drawing at the Curious Arts Festival, five years running.
