Profile bio

About Kate Turgoose

Over fifteen years of working, I have a wealth of experience in Administration in both private and public sectors. I'm currently working with MetaPack as their Office Manager which is a role that covers a lot of different Administration roles from keeping the office running on a daily basis through to high level executive support. I work closely with most of my colleagues which tends to give me access to many different tasks. I have also worked in public bodies such as Postwatch, Consumer Focus and General Social Care Council. In recent years I have picked up experience in office Health & Safety, but have worked in a lot of different disciplines ranging from housing administration for a local government authority, database administration for a private recruitment firm, and communications administration within a government sponsored department. Naturally all of these roles have involved touching on many different areas and I find I am able to learn things quickly and turn my hand to most things that need doing. I have a full CRB disclosure due to working with vulnerable people in previous roles.Outside of work, I write music reviews, interviews and create podcasts and enjoy the creativity that comes with that. I've also previously helped promote events in London, and you'll occasionally find me DJing in some bar somewhere - basically my outside work life is very much involved in music promotion in whatever form it may come.Specialties: DSE Assessor, Office Health and Safety, Office Management, Administration, Events Management, PA, Communications, website and intranet administration, CRB Checked

Listed skills include Event Management, Administration, Internal Communications, Management, and 20 others.

Office & Facilities Manager

London, United Kingdom

Slightly stepping away from my PA role for now in order to build a brand new Metapack HQ! I'm still working with the Technology team and keeping them in the centre of what I do but really looking forward to the next couple of years with this project - challenging but bound to be a lot of fun.

Pa To The Cio & Office Manager

Oct 2015 - Jun 2019

Office Manager

London, United Kingdom

Starting with the company as Company Administrator, I am now the Office Manager, taking on extra responsibilities besides general administration. I am the main point of contact for all people using the office - both colleagues, and external visitors. I answer questions relating to any office problems and look in to works that may need to be carried out, and actively seek out better ways of keeping the office working. I work closely with the executive team and assist them with administration, meeting arrangements, travel requests, and help to build relationships with external visitors. I have recently started to become more involved with contracts relating to the premises and have negotiated a better deal with a supplier. Overall my role is varied, and not one day is ever the same.

Sep 2012 - Oct 2015

Hr Assistant (Temporary)

London, United Kingdom

Brief temporary role assisting the HR team with their administration, and preparing them for an external audit.

Aug 2012 - Sep 2012

Team Administrator - Communications And Policy

London, United Kingdom

My previous role with the GSCC was a varied administrative position that allowed me to assist the communications and policy teams, as well as being an assistant for various members of the executive leadership team. On a day to day basis I spent quite a lot of my time doing media monitoring and keeping the organisation informed of any media interest in the organisation as well as articles of interest in the social work field, processing invoices and ensuring the communications and policy teams stuck to their budgets. I also worked alongside the website manager in keeping both the intranet and website up to date, whilst undertaking a refresh of the website design, which taught me more about content management systems and html. I also took on extra responsibilities and began to assist members of the Executive Leadership Team when they visited the London office, and offered support and information to them as needed.

Aug 2011 - Jul 2012

Assistant Editor

Connexion Bizarre

Online

An electronic music webzine dedicated to reviews and interviews mainly, but started to host podcasts and mixes, as well as occasional essays on music and topics closely linked to the genres we covered. My role, alongside writing reviews, interviews and producing podcasts was to assist the editor with proofreading, website administration, and sourcing new ideas for the website. The site is currently on hiatus but will possibly pick up again later this year.

Sep 2006 - Dec 2011

Administrator

Fleetbank House, 2-6 Salisbury Square, London. Ec4Y 8Jx.

This role was created following the merger of Postwatch, Energywatch and the National Consumer Council. My service was continued, following my role at Postwatch, with a re-aligned location and job specification. At Consumer Focus I worked within the Business Support Unit which serviced all requests coming from the organisation. I provided specialist support for the communications teams, but I also assisted elsewhere when necessary, from covering reception duties, through to helping people plan travel they may have needed to undertake. Other activities I undertook were set-up of video conferencing equipment, events organisation (within the first three months I helped set up a conference for around 200 staff in Manchester), and budget analysis. My role involved working closely with services and facilities teams in other offices, with whom I built excellent relationships. Communications work generally covered internal comms, but I assisted with the internal newsletter and interviewed all national chairs to date. Additionally, I wrote articles on varying topics that related to our work as an organisation. Over the course of my previous role, I sought out extra responsibilities. I was responsible for Health and Safety in the London office, access to the building for disabled visitors and was a trained Deputy Incident Control Manager.

Oct 2008 - Mar 2011

Communications Assistant

Postwatch (Consumer Council For Postal Services)

London, United Kingdom

During my employment with Postwatch I worked in two roles. When I first joined I was the Planning and Secretariat Assistant where my main role was to assist and, in the absence of, cover for the Planning Manager/Secretary to the Council and Records Management Advisor. This involved being in close contact with the national council for Postwatch, Postcomm (The Postal Services Regulator) and the Department for Trade and Industry (now known as BIS - The Department for Business, Innovation & Skills). I answered all queries relating to the planning/executive, managed the overall content of the intranet, processed data protection and freedom of information requests, collated papers for the monthly council meetings, arranged meetings both internal and external, including any accommodation requirements and travel and work on updating the archives via electronic records management. In my second role, I moved to the communications department to undertake the role of Communications Assistant. I supported the communications team, sent out press releases, processed any invoices on the communications budget, organised couriers, and completed other general day-to-day administration tasks. I also offered administrative support to other departments as and when required and regularly took minutes for the staff consultative committee. I took a great interest in the intranet and assisted with an entire redesign of the system as well as worked closely with another department (Energywatch) at the point of our IT merger.

Jun 2005 - Sep 2008

Programme Coordinator

This position was a varied and challenging role. Daily I was the first point of contact for all of our customers who wished to undertake the training programmes that we offered. I offered guidance as to the content of the courses and which would be best for their needs, helped with any queries regarding bookings, made bookings and invoiced customers, ensured all delegates for the courses were kept up to date with relevant course information and offered general assistance within the office. I was also point of contact for the venues we used to host our courses which involved organizing needs of tutors and delegates (such as dietary and access requirements) and ensuring the venues were suitable and good value for money. On occasion, I was able to attend the courses to offer on site administration and to meet the delegates and help to ensure that the courses went as well as possible for themselves, the venue and the tutor.

Database Administrator

This role involved supporting the Business Services Team in delivering a programme to involve small to medium sized companies in accessing training to improve their workforce. This was co-funded by the LSC (Learning and Skills Council) and the ESF (European Social Fund). My job was to ensure that the Maytas Database System was kept up to date with relevant information on learners and companies, take phone calls from both internal and external contacts, collate time sheets for staff members, keep track of Purchase Orders/Petty Cash for the team, order stationary supplies, make sure files were correct and take minutes for team meetings.During this employment, I also helped to organise an office move from Cannon Street in central London to new premises at Wembley Park in Middlesex. This involved helping the property department, organising deliveries/couriers, informing all contacts of our move and ensuring everything ran as smoothly as possible.
