The UCSF Health, Department of Planning Design and Construction is responsible for providing comprehensive capital project delivery services to the inpatient, ambulatory and hospital administrative units on the Parnassus, Mt. Zion and satellite campuses in SF. The current Capital Budget (CIP) has 160 projects valued at $200 Million. Project types include infrastructure & technology upgrades, renovations and upgrades of diagnostic, imaging and treatment facilities, full floor renovations of inpatient units and remodels of clinical, administrative and outpatient facilities. The MC Capital Project Management group is responsible and accountable to assure projects are delivered on time and within budget, that the design solutions are appropriate, that public contracting laws and codes are respected, safety of patients and staff is maintained, and that all furnishings, equipment, IT support is in place and active when the project is delivered. All of this must be done with a minimum of disruption to the clinical activities.

Directed construction projects from inception to completion on a wide variety of projects from major rehabs to tenant improvements and large scale capital improvement projects. Prepared and reviewed cost estimates and deliverables. Coordinated preconstruction teams to facilitate timely and accurate definition of scope, schedule and cost. Established and maintained construction resources capable of providing high value and efficient work product. Supervised construction team to assure on time and on budget project completion.

STANFORD HOSPITAL, Palo Alto, CAProject Manager, PMO – Managed the day-to-day efforts related to programming, planning, design, construction and activation of projects for Stanford Hospital under the general supervision of the PMO. Ensured completion of projects within budget, on schedule and meeting all program objectives and appropriate governmental regulations. Acted as liaison between the client/users and all other project participants including consultants, contractors, vendors and outside jurisdictional agencies.

Responsible for store construction, remodels and development of processes for this gem of a company. Managed rollout of new stores across the US and sadly shuttered them due to bankruptcy.

Provided managerial oversight to a series of construction projects. Overall direction, administration, completion, and financial outcome of projects. Oversight and management of project teams including facility administration, general contractors, and contracted consultants. Determined project scope, budget, and schedule to establish operation priorities and maintain strong working relationships with service area leadership and staff, subcontractors, etc. Workload generally in the range of $10 million in cumulative budget responsibility.. Strong working knowledge of OSHPD.

Managed 20 store remodels across the country within five months. Through strategic planning and teamwork with the store personnel, contractors and subcontractors these remodels were done within a 6 day duration from start to finish.

Managed the construction of Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma store remodels during a nationwide remodeling program. Also remodeled the test kitchen for Chuck Williams.

Managed all phases Design and Construction of these Coffee Bars and Bakeries in both Northern and Southern California. (Purchased by Starbucks)

Interfaced with design team and Managing Partners to bring concept to completion. Managed Architects, Kitchen Planners and Contractors as well as interfaced with city, county and health department officials in Chicago to open the great concept restaurants that Lettuce is famous for.

Responsible for Design, Construction, Facilities and Maintenance. Redesigned the concept and built 160 new Claire's and remodeled 60 within a year. Developed a new prototype of upscale Dara Michelle shops as well as developing a new warehouse/corporate office design.

Managed the construction of the shop within shop program in department stores across the country. These shops were built to Esprit specifications, with construction monitored by Esprit. Concurrently managed 8 prototype (women, sport, children's and shoes) freestanding stores for franchisees to purchase. These prototypes were built in both the South Coast Plaza and Valley Fair Malls.

Managed the construction of 12 Mervyn's stores throughout the west coast. The stores were from 60,000 to 120,000 square feet. Responsible for contractors, fixture vendors, Mervyn's project team in the coordination of plan review, construction and implementation for all facets of the store construction.

Managed corporate Design and Construction projects in Northern and Southern California. This process included programming, writing financing proposals, hiring the architects, bidding construction, and working with the city, scheduling the move, specifying furniture and artwork. All projects were very high end. Inclusive were executive floors in the B of A buildings, Card Centers and Bankamerilease spaces.
