Kate Williams is a Principal Consultant for Advisory at Tonkin + Taylor (T+T). Kate has over 20 years of experience as an engineering geologist, communicator, business leader and manager. As the Advisory Director (2017-2021) Kate embarked on building a team and developing the newly formed T+T Advisory and Digital services group focusing on business strategy, development and change management. Previously Kate led T+T Wellington as the Regional Manager for over four years.Kate especially enjoys working with people to ensure that they enjoy what they are doing, empowering them to excel and pulling teams of people together to deliver resilient and sustainable outcomes. Kate is driven by the challenge of facilitating real engagement between people to improve outcomes for our changing world. She is a strong believer in keeping it simple by providing people the right advice at the right time to achieve positive results. Kate develops positive working relationships with clients, communities and individuals.. She has a rare ability to translate complex engineering and scientific information into real human and environmental impacts to help clients and communities make decisions on big issues while understanding the big picture risks and economic consequences. Kate is a highly regarded passionate communicator with exceptional stakeholder management skills. Her ability to engage strategically in a broad range of multi-functional areas was highlighted during the Canterbury Earthquakes. She worked as a senior member of the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Team. Kate is deeply committed to her work with the public and clients and was a senior advisor to the Minister for Earthquake Recovery, EQC and CERA on communication with affected homeowners and the public. Her contribution to the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery was recognised in the 2013 New Year’s Honours, with Kate being awarded the Queens Service Medal.
