Hi everyone, I’m Katey.I am currently a senior at the University of Pittsburgh, pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance with a minor in Economics, as well as a certificate in Data Analytics. I am also on my way to attain my second degree, a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology! I find both of these degrees are not only beneficial, but essential, in gaining a true understanding of our society. If we are able to educate ourselves and become informed on economics, as well as the differences between each individual and the source and meaning of their emotions and reactions, the world seems to open up.Throughout college I have been working in the service industry as a server and a bartender. I love interacting with people and making others feel comfortable. I have gained many skills and lots of confidence through my time in this industry, and I trust that these proficiencies will benefit my future career.In my spare time, I intern at a nonprofit called Hello Neighbor in Pittsburgh and I’m learning quite a bit there. I have a passion for economic development, statistics, investing, and psychology. I plan to continue working in the nonprofit sector after graduation; it would be an honor to know that my education and efforts are making someone else’s life a little bit better.As I continually learn, my long-term goal is to take my experience back to my hometown of Erie, PA and increase the standard of living in a poverty-stricken town—the town that contains the poorest zip code in the U.S. If you have made it this far and would like to talk about anything mentioned, please do not hesitate to reach out!
