As a registered general and children’s nurse my background includes operating as an Assistant Director of Nursing at the Whittington NHS Trust and working as Lead Nurse in East and North Hertfordshire, managing acute and community children’s services, taking a key role in reconfiguration. I have also established educational programmes in NHS London across five Trusts to support and retain newly qualified nurses and have worked as a Lecturer at Middlesex University. Alongside a varied clinical and managerial career I have achieved an MSc (Nursing), PG Dip (Education), BSc (Hons), PG Dip (Management), am Lean/Six Sigma trained and have published programmes of work in a range of formats. In 2008 I joined the NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement and led the Children’s and Young People’s Emergency and Urgent Care programme; involving working with organisations across England to enhance system wide care for Children and Young People, working with primary and secondary schools is a highlight of this work. I am an active member of the Association of Chief Children’s Nurses (ACCN) and committed to innovation and collaboration to enhance health care services for Children, Young People and their families. From 2013-2019 I worked at NHS England providing system wide support to improve experiences of care. I am now Director of Nursing (Children) at Barts Health and the clinical lead for Babies, Children and Young People at North East London ICS.
