As a museum scholar and educator, I work with faculty and advanced Ph.D. students across North America through the academic outreach initiatives of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. My work includes:•Designing, implementing, and evaluating bi-annual faculty seminars on interdisciplinary approaches to teaching topics in the expanding field of Holocaust studies•Developing and organizing online and in-person lectures, moderated discussions, and digital teaching resources for university classrooms•Collecting and analyzing data, identifying metrics of success, and compiling annual donor reports•Soliciting and managing external evaluators to assess the long-term impact of Mandel Center programs and the shifting field of Holocaust studies•Stewarding faculty curricular design summer hybrid fellowships and providing on-going support to faculty through follow-up pedagogy dialoguesAs a historian of modern German history, I maintain an active research agenda on topics relating to transnational youth culture; human rights, socialism, and peace activism; and the long-term impacts of Nazism globally. I am especially passionate about social justice issues, including gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights, race relations, and societal class structures. I am the co-editor of a forthcoming volume with University of Michigan Press in 2025, titled Socialist Subjectivities: Queering East Germany under Honecker. I have 3+ years of teaching experience as an instructor of record in the fields of history, international relations, and critical theories at Boston Architectural College, George Washington University, American University, and Lesley College. My course designs build on innovative instructional approaches, including the use of a variety of pedagogical methods and technology tools to enhance student-centered learning practices. I also worked for two years in the governance division at the National Democratic Institute (NDI), implementing U.S. Congressional exchange programs for legislators and legislative staff from around the world.
